Happy New Year from Katelyn & The Magois Chronicles

Happy New Year to One and All

To my thin list of foundational subscribers, I say greetings. It's been a wild New Year so far for myself, my family, and even The Magois Chronicles, so I'm hoping it will calm down reasonably soon. But, Deus Vult, as they say, so I'm just along for the ride and doing my best to keep up.

I have finalized an Imprint Press logo from my cover designer, so I anticipate the final files coming soon - once they send me the invoice so I can pay them for their wonderful work. I'm fairly sure I'll be able to upload the Imprint Press logo and use it here in my newsletter for the time being. At least until they get the Author Logo done. They were working on it right before their Christmas/New Year's break, but I might have to inquire about that. Make sure my little Author Logo doesn't fall through the cracks, yah?

The cover designer has also sent me the latest for The Light of Arunzi's cover, which looks fantastic. I have one more tweak I'm asking about, but then it should be ready to rumble. Which reminds me - need to get them working on my novella's cover, too.

Editing, though - oh, boy, that's a saga. It's so 'fun' to get fired by your very own freelance editor, literally right before New Year's. All the work I've put in to make my stories and my world original - and she decides it's fancy, expensive fanfiction based on just one Flashpoint episode. le sigh. As I'm sure you can tell, I'm still a little bitter about it. I'll get over it. In the meantime, I ended up going back to my story coach editor. She took me on, no objections, but it's pretty much thrown all my line edit planning out the window.

Long and short - I may have to put the novella's line edit on the back burner and power through the edits for The Light of Arunzi first. I'm crossing my fingers that my editor's schedule will open up, but if I do have to wait until March for just the first line edit, yeah. I'll need the novel to be first. That way, I can get the line edit done and get the manuscript off to the cover designer for interior formatting.

And while that does mean I'll have to wait longer on having a novella for this newsletter, the delay will hopefully give me time to get more of the newsletter, author website, and other self-publishing assets in place.

Here's hopin' anyway. And I hope ya'll enjoy the stock photos, too. I probably should've gone with a modern police car, but that classic Highway Patrol car - muy perfecto. Had to pick that one. Just had to.

Until next time, Keep the Peace!
